AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. It is a nationwide program to serve 1st generation students and students who are underrepresented in college in supporting college readiness with support in the form of specialized curriculum, tutoring, and mentorship.
Before this past school year, Culver City High School had a 100% acceptance and attendance rate for seniors to 4-year colleges.
BHP partnered with CCHS counsellor Catherine Lenke, to help fundraise and create merchandise for the AVID students to wear during their annual event. A Meet & Greet for all 80 students grades 9 to 12 to work on team building and discuss supportive resources to build resiliency and community among the students.
“At a time when our nation is facing unprecedented learning loss, the best way forward is to activate every student’s desire and commitment to own the present and the future. Inspiring student agency is what we do best at AVID. Let’s go further together.”
We are so happy to announce we’ve raised over $1,500 for the event and towards the students’ yearly fund.
We would like to thank our sponsors; Arturo Hernandez of Turis Designs, Jones T Shirts and Admanline printing for generously donating their time and efforts to serve our local Los Angeles future.
